Foundation is quite a new product to me as I only started using it about three years ago. I went straight into high end foundations and only now, have I tried my first ever drug store foundation – Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy + Smooth. I chose Dewy + Smooth because I’m always after that glowy look. I feel that a matte finish always made me look dry, despite me having oily skin.
When I was swatching this foundation on my hand in store, it was so silky and smooth that I HAD to purchase it. The packaging is a little disappointing because there’s no pump. It’s simply a screw top lid and you pour out the foundation therefore it’s prone to getting messy. However, the price makes up for it as it’s very affordable! In Australia, it retails for $18.95 (AUD), but I was lucky enough to get them at half price since they were on sale!
There’s nine different shades which I think is a good variety. Since it’s so affordable, even if there isn’t a shade that matches exactly to your skin tone, you can always purchase two shades and mix it together which is what I did. I chose Classic Ivory 120 and Natural Beige 220.

I usually mix equal amounts of both to get to the shade that matches my skin. I use a damp beauty blender to apply this foundation, as I feel that it gives the most natural finish. I have to say, I absolutely love this foundation! For the price, it’s definitely a product I will use everyday for work and uni. It’s very light weight and so you don’t feel like you’ve got too much makeup on. I even tested it out and wore it to a Law Dinner and it lasted me all night long (with the help of Mac Prep + Prime Fix +). It gives me such a nice dewy look, but not too dewy that I feel sticky. It also has a nice silky finish to it that you don’t need to use a setting powder however I generally do, to increase it’s longevity. The finish of this foundation is comparable to Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation, which is also one of my favourite high end foundations!
I will definitely purchase this product again, without a doubt! I love it so much that I’m even thinking of giving the Matte + Poreless range a try so watch this space because I might try it soon!
Let me know if there’s any drug store foundations that I should try that is just as good as this one!
