It was a seedy Sunday for her as she had a Law Ball the night before so we decided to have a nice relaxing day at the Market Shed on Holland Street. We’ve been having temperatures below 20 degrees (celsius) and finally, it was 29 degrees so we couldn’t spend it indoors at a restaurant. We wanted to go here to try their fresh foods while still enjoying the sun. The Market Shed is literally situated in a big shed, with lots of food stalls and fresh produce for sale, and the atmosphere was just so welcoming.
We initially were going to order one serving of Paella but instead we ordered two servings because she had been craving it for weeks, and it definitely was worth the wait. It was delicious! The rice soaked up the sauce providing a nice punch of flavours. We both loved the mixtures of vegetables in the paella dish. There was kale, cauliflower, peas, sweet potatoes and cabbage just to name a few.
The only thing he could only critique on was that it was a vegetarian dish, he usually eats his paella with chicken, chorizos and seafood. However this is only his personal preference, but nevertheless the flavours were great and a squeeze of lemon on top gave a kick in the dish. She personally loved it for the fact that it was vegetarian, it was very filling but she didn’t feel too heavy after the meal.
We were quite thirsty after the paella so we decided to go get some fresh cold-pressed Juice. We ordered the Apple Sour which consisted of apple, orange and lemon. Having the Apple Sour was so refreshing on a hot sunny day! There was a good balance between sweet and sour and the best part, it came in a cute little mason jar that we could keep (or we could’ve returned it and received $1).
Of course we couldn’t leave the Market Shed only tasting one dish, so we decided to try the pizza that we saw everyone else holding. The pizza looked and smelt amazing! We ordered the Marinara pizza with tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, and evoo toppings. The pizza was cooked in a bricked pizza stove which made it even better. It was surprising how fast they made it; we waited no longer than 5 minutes for this pizza, that’s including the time to flatten the base, add toppings and cook the pizza.
The tomato sauce tasted amazing! He could literally just eat the pizza with just that tomato sauce. That was how much he loved it. The only regret he had was that he should have ordered two pizzas!
It was our first time coming here and it definitely won’t be our last, in fact, this might actually become a regular thing every weekend. Of course, we’ll keep you guys posted each time we try something new to eat at the Market Shed.
