Phu Xuong is hands down the best Vietnamese bread roll place in Adelaide! When we have cravings for a nice crunchy pork roll, we always go to this place!
Our favourite is the pork bread roll. The bread is a Vietnamese baguette filled with a nice spread of Vietnamese butter and pâté. Inside the bread consisted of pickled carrots and radish, cucumber, coriander, slices of chilli’s, and crackling roast pork.
The Vietnamese baguette was nice and crunchy on the outside, and soft in the inside. The pâté was soft, creamy and tasted amazing! The pork crackling has a nice salty crunch to it. The carrots and radishes were pickled perfectly, not overpowering the roll. We noticed with the chilli, that if isn’t spread out evenly, it has the potential of ruining the whole bread roll.
A tip when getting bread rolls is to buy it early in the mornings or roughly at 12-1pm. Anytime after that the baguette loses its crispiness. We also recommend to ask for extra butter and pâté to stop the bread roll from getting dry.
As cheesy as it sounds, this place is the best for us because the bread rolls are made out love, with the same shop assistant serving us each time. She definitely makes the best bread rolls out of all of them. Overall this place is the bomb and the pricing for the bread rolls are relatively cheap compared to their other competitors ($5 AUD). If you are ever in Adelaide, you must give this place a try!
